A DOOMED LOVE STORY
The beautiful young maiden would sit down at the same spot by the lake and wash clothes for the people of her village. Each day she would gaze over the lake at the other village beyond, hoping to catch a glimpse of the handsome young man who would also sit down to wash clothes. Each time they saw each other they would exchange a smile and a wave. In time they discovered they had started to develop strong feelings for each other. He would gaze at her perky breasts as she would giggle with delight at his muscular chest. They would exchange calls of “I Love You” and blow kisses as they finished their tasks and returned to their villages.
A WORKER’S CHRISTMAS CAROL
It was Christmas Eve in Rochdale and the local residents were happily spending what little they could afford out of their minimum wage to ensure they would find a little happiness and escape the harsh reality that they work for an unfeeling company for poor wages, with unions that won’t offer the support they really need. Sure, they are okay with accident claims as the company’s insurance takes care of that but anything related to high targets and unfair dismissal they just don’t care. Outside in the square tuneless Britian’s Got Talent rejects screech their way through popular Christmas carols whilst annoying salesmen-type vultures swooped on any weak-minded victim, hoping to get them to part with their hard-earned brass for charity and allowing their captives to escape with the knowledge that they are helping those in need where in reality they are helping those in greed.
BACK TO SCHOOL
The rain lashed out at me as I climbed out of my car. The strong cold wind howled and the force made me shiver. I wouldn’t normally be out on a day like this but today was a special day. Today I decided I would return to my old school to re-live some happy memories. I had some happy times there with all my friends and all the games we used to play. Not that I would see anyone at the school now because it had been closed for years. All the children, all the teachers would have moved on to new jobs and new futures. I had the same as them – a job in a bank, good prospects, a beautiful wife, and a healthy son. What more could a man ask for?
GOD WILL BRING LOVE
It had been six long months since Sandra left. She couldn’t put up with me any longer. Hardly surprising as I’d been a poor husband to her. During our four years of marriage, I had foolishly gambled and drank our income. I couldn’t control myself. For years I enjoyed life to the full. I drank, gambled and slept around. When I lived with my parents, I could get away with paying just £20 a week for my bed and board and the rest was spent on living the high life. I couldn’t save. Money burned a hole in my pocket. I had no ties or responsibility, just a nice big wage that I foolishly wasted every week.
GOODBYE DARLING
Susan sat at her dressing table examining the bruises on her face. The swelling around the eyes had gone down and the remainder of the bruises could easily be hidden with a bit of makeup. Taking a tablet would probably remove some of the physical pain she was feeling after the attack but only time would heal the emotional pain. Time is something she has plenty of now. Time to leave London and rebuild a new life abroad in France. After ten years of physical and emotional abuse, she had plucked up enough courage to leave her controlling husband Christopher.
